Long ago, there were 2 Demon brothers; Shumbh & Nishumbh; who had a long list of boons; which made them impossible to defeat. In their arrogance, they sent a proposal to Parvati to marry them. Parvati had not realized her power as kali then. The demons had sent Dhumralochan to get her.
She got so scared, she ran to Shiv to help her. But Shiv, he didn't wake up from his meditation. Because he knew who she is, and he wanted her to realize her strength, he wanted everyone woman to realize that who they really are, a part of the divine feminine!
In frustation, she roared so loud that Dhumralochan was destroyed just by the intensity of her roar. And that is when she tapped into her power. She realized she is KALI.
